Attractions in Saint Lucia

Saint Lucia- an island nation situated on the east of the Caribbean Sea forming boundary with the Atlantic Ocean. This island nation has a total land area of 620 square km with a total population of over 150,000. Castries acts as the capital of the nation.

The specialty of St Lucia is that it is a windward Island with always having a steady flow of wind. This island was first colonized by France in the year 1660 by forming a treaty with the natives. However the Great Britain took the control of the island from 1663 to 1667. Afterwards Britain engaged into war with France to sustain a complete control over the island. Since Britain and France often engaged in war for Saint Lucia, this island is also known as the "Helen of the West Indies", portraying the legendary Helen of Troy. The country later became an independent nation in the year 1979.

St Lucia meets all your expectations on how an island should look like. It is small tropical lush island with always having a steady flow of window. The island resembles the shape of a mango or avocado. In simple, the island can be described as a Hawaii of Caribbean. 

St Lucia has been known for its natural wealth of the dense rainforest that remains as a home for tropical birds, giant ferns, wild orchids and other endangered species. The island is also famous for its scope of adventurous activities such as scuba diving, swimming, surfing, snorkeling etc.

Rodney Bay

This alluring bay is situated close to the capital city. The Rodney Bay has now become a major centre of night life, shopping malls, hotels and eateries. The Bay is active round the clock and is also known for its adventurous water sports.

Pigeon Island National Historic Park

This is the country’s first historic national park situated close to the beaches on the west. Situated on a 44 acre land, this park displays wide information on the history of the island and the famous artifacts of the St Lucia.

Soufrière

It is the place having country’s second largest settlement. The two hills of Soufrière named Petit Piton and Gros Piton remains as the icon of St. Lucia. Once remained as active volcanic peaks, these hills are now covered by green vegetation

Diamond Falls

This majestic waterfall which was once used as the bathhouses for the troops of French King Louis XVI is an exact spot for anyone to take a refreshing break. This mineral-rich cascading waterfall is the perfect example for the stunning beauty of St Lucia.
