Tourist Spots in New York City

The City of New York colloquially known as the New York City is the largest as well as the most populous city in United States with an estimated population of 8,300,000. The city has a major influence on the economical and commercial activities of the world and therefore it can rightly be described as the headquarters of world trade. Also the headquarters of United Nations is situated in New York.

The city is situated in the Atlantic coast of North-eastern US and it has five major boroughs namely Brooklyn, Bronx, Queens, Staten Island, and Manhattan. The total land area of the city is 305 square miles.

New York is known for its diversity and density of population. Nearly 170 languages are spoken with in the city and 40% of the total population was born outside US. The city is also nicknamed as “The City that Never Sleeps”. From 1785 to 1790, New York served as the capital of United States.

New York has lots of sights and attractions which are world famous. Some of the must see places in New York are as follows

Statue of Liberty

The very first thing which comes to your mind when you think of New York is the Statue of Liberty. This statue was a gift from the French government on the 100th Independence of United States. This enormous statue is 93 meter high including the pedestal. You are allowed to climb the top of the statue from where you can have a great view of the New York City.

Empire State Building
           
It is one of the most renowned buildings of the world. Situated in the heart of the New York City, this building portrays the desire and determination of humans to touch the sky.
Though this building lost the title of world’s largest building, it remain as a symbol of the New York which is being visited by 2 million people every year

Brooklyn Bridge

The Brooklyn Bridge which connects Brooklyn, New York's most populous borough with Manhattan is one of the most magnificent attractions of New York. The bridge which was built between 1869 and 1883 remains as one of the engineering marvels of the 19th century.

Central Park

This enormous park situated in the heart of Manhattan sets a perfect example for how a park should look like. Situated in 843 acres, this park includes many playgrounds, lakes, theaters, fountains, baseball fields, tennis courts and other facilities.

Museum of Modern Art

It is one of the most popular museums in the New York City. The museum was formed mainly due to the tremendous effort of the famous Rockefeller family of US. This museum exhibits the modern works including the artistic works of American Impressionists.
